Founded in 1964 by the late Mr. Andrew J. Alderete, CPA, Alderete & Company has been a cornerstone of the New Mexico accounting community for nearly six decades. Mr. Alderete’s pioneering career made history as he became the first Korean Veteran Hispanic CPA in New Mexico, earning the 786th CPA license in the state.
Over his 43 years of private practice, Mr. Alderete offered one-stop tax and accounting services to individuals and businesses across New Mexico and other states, including Texas, Arizona, South Dakota, Colorado, Georgia, Ohio, and Oklahoma. His commitment to excellence and his dedication to his clients set the foundation for Alderete & Company’s enduring reputation.

Co-founder of the American Association of Spanish-Speaking CPAs in 1972.

Founder of the New Mexico Chapter of the American Association of Hispanic CPAs in 1986 (now known as ALPFA, the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting).

Honored by President George W. Bush with a certificate of recognition for his Korean War military service.

Military Service:
At the age of 17, Mr. Alderete began his military career in Tokyo, Japan, eventually serving as a Korean War veteran and retiring from the U.S. Navy Reserve in 1984. His leadership extended beyond the accounting profession to his volunteer service in numerous civic and philanthropic organizations.
His Legacy Lives On:
In 2013, the New Mexico ALPFA Scholarship Endowment Fund was created in Mr. Alderete’s honor to support ALPFA students dedicated to serving their communities and peers.
Continuing the Tradition of Excellence
After Mr. Alderete’s passing in 2007, his wife, Mrs. Graciela Alderete, took the helm of Alderete & Company to continue his legacy. With over 20 years of experience as an accounting assistant and an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Business Administration from CNM, Mrs. Alderete operates the firm with the same dedication to integrity, transparency, and exceptional service.
